The bigger subspecies of wild boar stand better chances, but i would give the elk an advantage over the non-monstrously sized subspecies of Sus scrofa.

The boar has nasty tusks that can deal a load of damage. Plus it'll press the attack until its opponent is beaten. Ask Robert Baratheon. He knows.

The elk, especially an adult male, has weaponry far easier to use over the boar, and the fact that male antlers are pretty long typically, it possesses a reach advantage. Couple that with the fact i do believe an adult elk is going to be larger than an average adult of a few subspecies of wild boar, and i think i would favor the elk pretty comfortably. Wild boar are pretty gnarly creatures when they're angry, but it is probably outgunned here.

The size gap is not that huge; plus the boar has nasty tusks that will cripple the elk's legs. 57/43 pig.

Elk have their own impressive weaponry that is probably easier to utilize, assuming we're talking about males. I'm not entirely sure the boar would get at the legs very easily at all, not with how the male elk tend to fight If the elk keeps its head down, the boar is likely to not even come near the legs. The horns offer a reach advantage that would probably be rather necessary against an animal such as a wild boar.

I adamantly refuse to recognise the subspecies level.

I adamantly refuse to recognise the subspecies level. Is it just too convient a way to organize populations that exhibit similar variations from other populations of the same species or are you just a rebel without a cause that doesn't play by the rules?

Option A. Do the words Taxonomic Mind Screw mean a thing to you?

A simple kick from the elk will do it.

I'd say the elk wins this 70/30. It's much bigger and has great fighting tools such as hooves and antlers.
