Which animals are the most widespread choices to be used in animal-related face-offs on AVA sites? I'm interested in your opinion. In my opinion, the top five are;
1. Tiger 2. Lion 3. Grizzly bear 4. T-Rex 5. No idea, could be anything from a shark to a crocodile, to gorilla, or perhaps another dinosaur.
As usual I'm interested in your opinion.

I was talking specifically about modern day panthera tigris and panthera leo, not including prehistoric cats but rather looking at the species themselves; it's very close to call which one is more popular overall. Despite the lion's king of the beasts title, I would probably just about give the edge to the tiger in terms of popularity overall.
EDIT: I did a "Tiger" and "Lion" search on Google; tiger ended up with 147,000,000 results, Lion with 128,000,000 results.

Big cats take the win easily here. That "Lion vs Tiger" debate is the single most debated animal face-off ever.

As far as domestic animals go, the apbt/staffordshire bullterrier, kangal dog, ovcharka (Former soviet shepherd dogs), bully kutta (pakistani fighting dog) and spanish fighting bull seem to be the most popular choices by many for matchups...

I'd say some of the most popular carnivores in AvA are wolves, lions, leopards, jaguars, tigers, mountain lions, cheetahs, grizzly bears, polar bears, sun bears, spotted hyenas, and African wild dogs. As for dinosaurs, T rex, Apatosaurus, Triceratops, Giganotosaurus, Daspletosaurus, Allosaurus fragilis, Deinonychus, Velociraptor, Utahraptor, and Carnotaurus are all popular choices. And as for herbivores, Cape buffalo, bison, muskox, elk/moose, and gemsbok, as well as wild boar, all seem fairly common choices.
