I already have my opinions and views on this extremely touchy subject. What are yours? Do you think race and crime have any correlation and should be addressed more often?

Generally speaking minorities are most often associated with criminal activety, but its does not simply stem from their race, but rather the poor conditions that they have been forced to live in.
I'm sure caucasians would have been seen as the typical thug ethnicity if the situation had been reversed.

I remember having debated about the race theory on topix. This summarizes my thinking nicely: psycnet.apa.org/journals/amp/60/1/46/There are studies on the performance of different races, but none from the 21th century. Some say its because of political correctness, but I doubt this. All the theories connected with evolution are nonsense because all humans are classified as Homo sapiens sapiens and thus I believe my paper above has a point that race is more important for society than science. Sure, there are studies that prove that it goes Asians>Caucasians>Africans in intelligence when the conditions are fair, but conclusions are tentative at best. Especially because a different gene in different races that influence intelligence and other stuff has not be proven yet. Sorry for focusing more on racial differences in general and not so much on crime (but low intelligence is probably connected with crime), I just wrote what I used in other debates.

The reason for crime is often the social background not a so called race. Like creature wrote there are no scientific reasons for allocating humans in different races. Furthermore the term "race" isn't used for taxonomy in any species of animals in the world, at most in breedings, but not in natural populations. If any term should used it must be "subspecies", but however it's every time the same: Homo sapiens sapiens. Due to the fact that there are nothing like "human races", correlations between race and crime aren't possible.

You see, a lot of people seem to think its purely environmental. But there are many whites that live in poor areas and their crime rates aren't as high. I think culture is another influence. A lot of people say that blacks make up around 12% of the USA population, but they are 8 times more likely to kill, steal, and rape. I am African American and for a long time thought it just depended on who raised them, but I feel like its mostly culture and probably to extent, genetic. I don't like saying that because it's implying that blacks are born criminals but behaviors can be passed on. Don't forget that drugs are an influence as well. Babies come out with their brains damaged from their parent's actions.
This is very touchy.

Drugs: Possible Culture: In which parts of the African culture do you see a connection with crime? Genes: Even if it is to some extent, I believe we would be able to find parts of their genes that can be connected with crime, i.e. genetically less intelligent or more muscular, both can lead to solving the problems with crime.
Can you give evidence for poor whites being less likely to commit crimes?

Well I was going off of African American culture. Look at the music and how black women portray themselves as. Same with the men. It portrays blacks (and Mexicans) as thuggish people who just care about sex, drugs, and killing rival people. African culture is much different than African American culture. I live in Rancho Cucomanga. Very close to the area I live is a trailer park and the population is mostly white. Many of them are poor, but they haven't had any crime there for years while in most poor areas with a high minority population, there is crime almost everyday. Often drugs or/and murder. Same with Chicago, Detroit, and other areas. www88.homepage.villanova.edu/lance.hannon/Forthcoming%20in%20the%20Journal%20of%20Poverty.pdfPoverty does cause crime, but it doesn't answer why that poor whites cause less crime than minorities. At least that's what the statistics say. Maybe information is being hidden on this type of topic.

Even consider the fact that the drug trafficking is the main reason why there is such a substansial diffrence between blacks commiting crimes in American and those that do so in Africa?

I think that what appears to be "racial influence" in crime rate is actually due to being looked down as an "inferior race". Crimes are actions of choice(bad ones) and are not inherent/genetic.

So you think that they cause crime due to be looked down upon?
