Since I’ve noticed and caused many debates that were largely about issues of terminology, I think we should have a thread for this.
The goals: • Sum up unequivocal and official explanations of important terminology • Resolve common misconceptions • Where possible, reach a consensus on the use of equivocal expressions • Where necessary clear up the origins of or introduce useful terms (for example: "gigantophagy")
I know this sounds incredibly boring, but still it’s important and ultimately discussing it here may reduce the amount of time spent on debating it elsewhere. Also I’ve found that there are enough people who debate pretty much anything just for the debate’s sake.

I had forgot I even made this thread! "Gigantophagy" apparently comes from "Brontophagy", which was invented by Bakker (1998: p. 145). Probably one of us actually created this as an alternative or remembered this incorrectly.
