And what, exactly, is too much fat? In your opinion?

In my biased opinion, having a gut and having trouble exercising like running, push ups, etc. I don't expect people to be on my personal level, but I do want people to be healthier. There are exceptional people though, my father being one of them. 240 lbs but for some reason, not too much of an issue working out. And stop thinking that I'm "Obsessed." I don't know where that came from, unless you're just using the word wrong.
Oh and by the way, you said you're 145 lbs. I don't exactly know your age, but what are you? Ectomorph, Mesomorph, or endomorph? Because you're right, size can be genetic, but rarely does it ever get up to the point where its pure blubber. Endomorphic people can gain muscle and fat pretty easily, and also tend to be short and stocky. That's why its important that they do cardio frequently.

Ectomorph = skinny with high metabolism and great body control. Hard to gain weight to, and hard to gain muscle and weight lifting can be hard. Great for running, pushups, situps, pullups, and gymnastics. They also can be good in martial arts due to their long reach, but lack physical power and weight and rely on speed.
Endomorph = thick bear like, built for muscle and fat. They tend to be short though, but there are big ones. Fat and muscle can be gained EASILY (cardio is vital for endomorphs). Great for weight lifting (especially power lifting), wrestling, and football. In martial arts, they are slow, but when they hit, its devastating.
Mesomorph = pretty much right in the middle of Ectomoprh and Endomorph. They tend to have medium built upper bodies and lower bodies, and its incredibly easy to gain muscle. They have a pretty ok metabolism, but not as high as ectomorphs and should watch the calorie intake. Yeah right in the middle really.
And then there are hybrids.

You fit at least one from body type. Trust me. You might be a hybrid though.

I don't think you can put people in classes based on body shape.

Being fat is not healthy. A government that controls your diet is less healthy.

He's just saying... It's a proper thread for it, anyway.
And I do agree that being out of your appropriate weight is not ok.

Does this include people who are underweight and unable to gain normal weight or is underweight always the fault of the person? I have read that gaining weight can be even harder than losing weight.

Is sad to see so many people arguing over how much other people should weigh.

It can actually. That's an ectomorph. Well at least a variant. That's why ectomorphs have a hard time gaining weight, but they are best at running (sprinting to). With a high metabolism, its hard to gain weight. Going into body building is hard for them. From my experience, people who are always underweight don't get enough to eat. I've seen this when I used to live in San Diego. Some of the kids around the block would look like that. Some are people who are afraid of getting fat or take desperate measures in losing weight by eating and then throwing up.

Is sad to see so many people arguing over how much other people should weigh. At the end of the day, its the persons decision to do whatever it is they want. You can't force someone to do something. It's all advice and wishful thinking with passion. This is America. You have the right to do whatever, even if its stupid and not good for them.

Underweight doesn't necessarily mean being anorexic. I am underweight by definition, even though I eat enough. Coherentsheaf told me he had a similar problem when he was younger, even though he ate as much as possible.
As for your second comment: Yup, America is a the country of diversity and inequality, weight is no exception.

Creature have you ever thought about track? How are you at eating? You may be ectomorphic.
