Um, what tiger? Am I missing something here? A tiger cat, i.e. a striped cat. He was joking, obviously. Or are eagles now known to lift tigers into the air? Of course, we could make a systematic attampt at verifying that, just look whether there are any accounts of farmers in Susquehanna County around 1899 having a real tiger, because if any did, I doubt that would have gone unnoticed

Weasel for every account you find of a cat killing a near sized eagle I can post two of the reverse. Eagles frequently kill cats both on the ground and when hunting. Eagles always kill unimpressive cats by ambush even if it fight's it on the ground the eagle still got the advantage of attacking from the air first And cats don't ambush eagles? ? Lol what fantasy world do you live in!? In every account of a eagle fighting ANY type of cat on the ground the eagles won.

A cat does not need to suffocate it but that is how they hunt , if the cat can't get a good bite on the eagles neck it can also rip the eagle apart just as easily A cat wouldn't have any trouble plucking a eagle out of flight, it can even grab the eagle when it swoops down to attack. Raptors are light built and won't stand a chance on a face to face fight.

Caracals kill martial eagles all the time even subadults around 15lb have killed them.Although alot of the time the eagle is roosting the carcal kills the eagle while its awake and trying to defend it's nest.

Still waiting for your accounts of subadult caracals killing martial eagles Weasel … Why exactly is it that you think this would be so easy? How can someone seriously believe a cat could just pluck an eagle out of the air? The bobcat in the video I showed wasn’t even able to catch it when it was still on the ground. Didn’t you notice how quickly that bird was able to take to the air? Again, if this was really so easy we’d see accounts where a cat "plucked an eagle out of the air". There are no accounts.

I remember some video posted on carnivora involving a golden eagle, that very impressively demonstrated how quickly it can launch itself. I think it was two eagles fighting, but I can’t seem to find it any more. Anyone remembering it?

It was a vid of a grounded golden looking left in the nick of time and countering a eagle swooping at it in the snow.

Runic ah yes, that’s the video I mean. I’m not sure any more, was it two golden eagles or a golden eagle and a bald eagle? Anyway, I can’t find it. do you remember where it was?

Well the cat's not going to catch it on the first few tries but cats have killed birds in midair before. that's how caracals kill birds sometimes.

lol even ocelots have killed female harpy eagles, most by ambush although there are some in a face to face fight. Ocelots and bobcats average around the same weight, but the ocelot is no where near as impressive as the bobcat.
