A male mountain zebra kicked a hyena to death (Caro, 2016).

Not too surprising, as I've read about rare findings of lions supposedly injured by zebra kicks (Schaller, 1972).

One lioness with a smashed jaw in the Ngorongoro Crater and a male with a similar injury in the Serengeti possibly were kicked by a zebra.

Zebra stallions apparently sometimes kill each other in combat.

On a number of occasions over the last few years we have discovered the carcass of a male zebra with no signs of predators in the area, and unless they have fallen victim to snakebite, by far the most likely cause of death is a lethal kick by a rival male.

^There's also a photo of the skull pierced by a deer hoof too. A mutual on a Discord server posted this (EDIT: found the source; link->).

Cervids may only rarely fight back against predators, but when they do, I love how they mostly use their hooves.

Supercommunist: Anyone find it kind of weird how some people portay gigantosaurus as a finese predator compared to a tyrannosaurus? Given that tyrannosaurus had the smaller gape and the duller teeth, wouldn't it require more precision? Aug 27, 2024 23:49:00 GMT 5
