Not really a predator-prey relationship, but a 60-year old man was attacked by a rabid wolf, only to strangle it to death. He subsequently died of rabies.
Two case reports were found.
...
The latter case involves a 60-year-old man who was attacked by a wolf while sitting in his garden. The man managed to release the wolf’s grip by strangling it to death. The man sustained a 5 cm long laceration extending from the right oral commissure in which the facial artery was exposed but not penetrated. The patient received immunoglobulin against tetanus and rabies and a full vaccination program against both agents. On the 25th day, he was brought to the emergency department with altered consciousness, fever, and increased salivation. He developed respiratory difficulties and was placed on respirator but died 4 h later. Autopsy confirmed his cause of death to be rabies (13).

Grey seal interaction with a White-Tailed Eagle: spitting as a means of defence?
Grey Seals, Halichoerus grypus, are abundant, native pinnipeds to the waters of the Isle of Wight and Solent, UK reappearing after an absence of ~three decades. The White-tailed Eagle, Haliaeetus albicilla, became extinct on the south coast and the Isle of Wight around 1780, but were re-introduced in 2019. Presently, only a few eagle pairs have remained on the island, and none have yet bred. Nonetheless, the eagles are observed on a regular basis while fishing in the lagoons and inlets of the island’s north coast or when roosting in nearby trees. Grey seals are regularly seen in most of the islands’ larger inlets on the north coast. Here we present for the first-time photographic evidence of an interaction between a Grey Seal and a Sea Eagle that suggests competition between these taxa is already a component of these animals’ ecology. In one of our photographs an eagle flies over a Grey seal that at first reacts by barking. In a second photograph taken shortly after, the seal is seen spitting a jet of water at the eagle, a defensive behaviour that we believe has not previously been reported.
Supercommunist: But I assume that in practice it doesn't happen because most other animals don't have jaws nearly as long and can't be grabbed as easily.

Supercommunist: It's common knowledge that the opening jaw muscles of crocodiles and alligators are weak. But does anyone know if other animals could have their jaws held shut by tape/a human grip/ I suspect other animals also have weak opening jaw muscles.

Supercommunist: The claims aren't crazy but I just find it a bit annoying how some of the most popular animal youtubers tend to have a pretty medicore grasp of the subject.

Supercommunist: Anyone know any accounts or rabbits straight up killing stoats/weasels? Also, any accounts of stoats attacking and killing hares?

dinosauria101: I will never understand the purpose of dishonest streaming services that list full seasons and episodes of shows there's no option to watch.

Infinity Blade: Indeed it will be (I remembered that I'll be turning 25 this year), so I think this would be a perfect opportunity.

Exalt: Seems it aired in October and November, so close.

Exalt: Wait, isn't this the 25th anniversary of wwd anyway, if it aired in 1999?
Jan 30, 2024 6:35:11 GMT 5
Exalt: I've pondered the idea of doing it myself, there's stuff to comment on, but I've not seen much in the way of reviews for it. Weirdly, WWB seems more popular to do.

Exalt: I'm not going to push you either way, just an observation that I made.

Infinity Blade: I first started doing reviews as a means to celebrate an anniversary (like the 20th anniversary). Then I started being less stringent on that, so if I wanted, I could review WWD.

Exalt: Also, it sure is crazy how despite how limited the fossil record is in the grand scheme of natural history, we're still making discoveries on a relatively frequent basis.
Jan 25, 2024 4:55:00 GMT 5
Exalt: I just looked through the documentaries board and if I've not missed it, nobody has actually done a review for WWD. Huh.
