Greg Paul's take on what would happen if the K-Pg event never happened. It was drawn in his review of The New Dinosaurs by Dougal Dixon.  Fig. 1. A Late Tertiary tyrannosaur culls out a lambeosaurine grazer from a mixed herd that also includes large protoceratopsid descendants. A small ornithopod leaves the scene on the right, shovel-nose horned rodents peer from their burrows, and geese flock together in the distance. An azdharchid-sized megabat named Titanochiroptera trigintavis, or, colloquially, the Simurgh. Weight of up to 150 lb and wingspan of up to 33-36 ft. Mainly eats fruit and the occasional carrion. Live in the temperate mountain forests of the Mid East. (And yes, they're named after that giant bird from Persian mythology. Although, due to my obsession with a certain webnovel, I can't help but think of city destroying monstrosities any time I read that name.)
