morty Well, my reasoning for backing the bird here is a one-hit-seals-the deal kind of concept. The tiger needs to pin Kelenken down and get a good neck bite, whereas Kelenken only needs 1 hit from the beak or good kick and the tiger is badly immobilized

It would be a close match. tiger is very strong agile and has powerful bite for his size and overall size is large as well.
However Kelenken is larger still. Large terror birds were a match for large saber cats like smilodon. And it would take at least 2 dire wolves to even challenge large terror bird.

Overall Kelenken usually wins

Just thought it's worth noting, Kelenken is thought to have kicked with a metric ton of force. It's on a website which you should NOT join, but square-cube calculations seem to hold up Where did you get the 1 tonne kick from? I hope it wasn't from my post...

I actually looked at the links there.

Close. I actually looked at the links there. The link to the Secretary bird study or something else? Just so you know, i did not take into account of square cube law so i was probably overestimating it. A better estimates could be found from here. Refer to table 3. The Phorusrhacinae gen is probably the closest in size to Kelenken. Using the 200 kg weight estimates, the terror bird's leg can withstand a force of 2.8 times its body weight, which would be 560 kgf. So that should be the maximum that it can dish out too.

A kick, while it may not kill, can floor the tiger for the final hit and when that's landed it's game over
